There is a steady increase in demand for medical marijuana in Sarasota, Florida as more and more states legalize medicinal cannabis, but physicians, who are the state’s regulators of medical marijuana, cannot readily reach all the patients.
The legalization of medical marijuana in many states has led to increasing interest in this organic alternative to pharmaceutical medicine to treat different health conditions. But how would you find out whether you are eligible for medical marijuana?
Requirements for a Medicinal Marijuana Card
The rules for obtaining a medicinal marijuana card vary by state. However, here are some general steps to see if you qualify for medical marijuana use.
- You have to be at least 18 years old (if less, you need a certification of adult caretaker and a doctor).
- You have to be a legal resident of the state where you live and be able to prove it
- Disease diagnosis reports are required
- You must establish a real relationship with the physician who identifies your qualifying condition
As long as you meet all these requirements, you can obtain your medical marijuana card. The process entails the following three steps:
Application for booking
Make an appointment with your doctor and show up. If your age is less than 18, you have to have a second physician, and the patient’s medical records should include in this commitment. Provide your health history with a certified marijuana doctor and book your appointment.
Doctor’s Prescription for Medical Marijuana use
Visit a physician to assess your symptoms and ask any questions you might have regarding medical marijuana medication. Your physician will submit your information into the Medicinal Cannabis Use Registration if you are approved. If you have a caretaker, you must include them in the registry as well.
For their application to be recognized by Florida, each patient must show proof of Florida residency.
Get your application approved
You’ll receive your card in the mail within 2-3 weeks. Once you’ve been accepted and registered through Florida’s Medicinal Cannabis Use Registry and you receive your card, you can legally purchase marijuana from any marijuana dispensary of your state.
In Florida, medical marijuana certificates are now valid for just 210 days and also must be recertified after 70 days, or they would become invalid. Within the same year, there is no additional price for re-certification. You can consult with our licensed physicians online to ensure that your card remains valid.
The selection and costs of medications will differ for every MMTC. You can use whatever product or mixture you like as long as it doesn’t conflict with any of the exceptions in your treatment plan.
